ICPC: President Buhari Seeks Senate Confirmation of 7 Nominees

President Muhammadu Buhari is seeking the Senate’s confirmation for the reappointment of 7 Board Members of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), adding that the request for a confirmation is in accordance with provisions of section 3(3) and 7 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000. The President’s request which was contained in a letter was read during Tuesday’s plenary by the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan.


The nominees include Justice Adamu Bello (Rtd.) from Katsina State (North West); Hanatu Muhammed, Jigawa State (North West); Dauda Umar, Nasarawa State (North Central); Dr. Abdullahi Saidu, Niger State (North Central); Mrs. Olubukola Balogun, Lagos State (South West); Obiora Igwedibia, Anambra State (South East) and Dr. Grace Chinda, Delta State (South South).

In his letter, President Buhari expressed hope that the Senate “will consider and confirm the appointments in the usual expeditious manner.”
