The dethroned Emir of Kano MuhammaduSanusi II has stated that he has accepted his dethronement as an act of destiny as every power is transient except that of God. Sanusi made the statement at the Kano palace on Monday, March, 10, shortly before he was ejected from the palace and sent into exile. He was escorted by security personnel.
AlhajiSanusi in his reaction said he is grateful to God for granting him the opportunity to have ruled the good people of Kano for the past six years.
Speaking in Hausa language in a four-minute video shared on YouTube, the former emir said, he is always thankful to God for crowning him emir of Kano on June 8, 2014, guided him through six years and by his grace the kingship has been taken back.
“As I always say, leadership has predetermined tenure, the days Allah destined are numbered. When the days come to an end one must leave.
“We have accepted whatever Allah decides. We have agreed. We appreciate (God). We are happy and we know it is what is best for us.”
Sanusi further thanked the good people of Kano, the state leadership and his relatives for the love, prayers, cooperation and obedience they displayed during his rule. He also called on the people to remain calm and peaceful in this period of transition, adding that God does not make mistakes.
Sanusi flew to Abuja on Monday and journeyed to Loko in Nassarawa state, his new home.
Shortly after Sanusi was deposed, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), AlhajiUsmanannounced the appointment of Aminu Ado Bayero, son of the late Ado Bayero and emir of Bichi as the new emir of Kano.
Sanusi’s grandfather was deposed as emir of Kano in1963 and banished to Azare in Bauchi.
