President Muhammadu Buhari and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, on Friday held a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to Punch, the agenda of the closed-door meeting is believed to be in connection with the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.

The speaker arrived at the Villa for the meeting about 11.23am.

Recall that the National Assembly is still on annual recess, but members began mounting pressure on the leadership to reconvene the legislature soon after the xenophobic attacks started.

Gbajabiamila himself had had to cut short his foreign trip in the wake of the attacks.

It was also gathered that the President and Speaker might touch on the 2020 budget bill to be presented to the National Assembly later this month.
