A mild drama was unfolded at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) when a witnessed 60, Joseph Gbenga, to the petitioner called by the PDP and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to testify their INEC data claim before the court admitted that he is not a certified analyst.

Gbenga who was trained as an industrial chemistry student at the University of Ilorin, parade himself as a Data Analyst and a Designer which mislead PDP into hiring him as their analyst to analyze the result of 11 states out of the 36 states in the February 2019 presidential election.

However, during a cross-examination by, Yunus Usman (SAN), an INEC lawyer, if Gbenga has been certified to carry out the petitioner’s job as he did, he admitted that “I have had the training but not certified”.

The witness while continued responding to more questions during the cross-examination said, he carried out his analysis through inspecting of result sheets from 11 states. However, could not lay his hand on that of Zamfara state copy but had to rely on the pink duplicate copies.

Although he did not list the 11 states he claimed to have inspected.

He said he was not sure whether Atiku won or lost in those result he inspected. However, he was not aware the petitioner had already conceded defeat in eight of the 11 states.

“If I applied my mind to whether or not the petitioners won or lost, I would not be able to come up with a professional and an unbiased report.” The witness added.
