The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised a five-man committee to resolve the crisis emanating from the emergence of Ndudi Elumelu as Minority Leader of the House of Representatives.

According to Dailypost, the BoT Chairman, Senator Walid Jibrin, who briefed the media at the party’s Headquarters in Abuja yesterday after its meeting, said members of the committee will submit their report within seven days.

“We have decided to wade into the matter in the House of Representatives, as regards the minority leadership. To that effect, a committee has been formed under the Chairmanship of Senator Iyorchia Ayu, with senators David Mark, Ibrahim Mantu, Adolphus Wabara as members and Austin Opara as Secretary.

“They have been given a week to submit their report to the BoT and NWC after which a decision would be taken,” he said.

He stressed that the BoT will always work in harmony with the National Working Committee (NWC), as well as co-operate\ and consult with the NWC to avoid taking conflicting positions.

Following the announcement of Elumelu as the Minority Leader of the House by the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, majority of the lawmakers in the lower chamber had raised alarm over what they termed the abandonment of the list of caucus members sent to the Speaker by the leadership of the PDP.

It was gathered that while the National Working Committee of the PDP nominated Hon. Kingsley Chinda as Minority leader, Gbajabiamila named Elumelu instead, a development that threw the House into chaos.

Chinda had since taken over the seat allocated to the Minority leader in House, while the party has suspended Elumelu over his involvement in the saga.
