Amidst controversial emergence of Ndudi Elumelu as the Minority leader of the House of Representative on Wednesday by the Speaker House of Representative, Femi Gbajabiamila, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended Elumelu who was declared as the Minority Leader, and others whom were vested with other appointment as principal officers.

The suspension was triggered by what the PDP described as insubordination to its party’s position. The PDP had earlier claimed it shortlisted different peoples name for those positions which was forwarded to the speaker, however, their party men in a controversial manner subverted the plan.

Ndidi Elumelu and six others were suspended on the ground that they went against the party’s interest.

The six others are Hon. Wole Oke, Hon. Lynda Ikpeazu, Hon. Anayo Edwin, Hon. Gideon Gwadi, Hon. Toby Okechukwu and Hon. Adekoya Abdul-Majid.

According to PDP, its leadership had earlier written to Speaker, submitted names of Kingsley Chinda (PDP Rivers) as the Minority Leader, Chukuka Onyema as Deputy Minority leader; Yakubu Barde as minority whip and Muraina Ajibola as Deputy minority whip.

However, the Speaker in his wisdom opined that the PDP alone cannot decide for the whole minority party in the House, subsequently went ahead to unveil a letter signed by 99 members of minority political parties of the house.

Consequently, their collective action gives rise to the emergence of Ndudi Elumelu as the Minority Leader, Toby Okechuku as Deputy minority leader, Gideon Gwani as minority whip and Adesegun as deputy minority whip.

Meanwhile, the PDP NWC had, afterward, summoned Elumelu and the others for questioning, the outcome of the summon had today earned them suspended for one month.
