The Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has today condemned the alleged attempt by the Speaker House of Reps, Femi Gbajabiamila, to impose a House Minority Leader on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike described the attempt as treachery and undemocratic.

The Governor disclosed this during a courtesy visit by his Oyo counterpart Oluseyi Makinde at the Government House, Port Harcourt. Wike opined that trading has been placed above party loyalty at the green chamber.

Wike claimed that he was a pure party loyalist as against what is being witnessed and he so much believes in the party.

In his words, “I am not surprised. When you have traders and merchants, what do you expect?

“It is unfortunate for those who do not understand what politics is all about. I am a core party man. I believe in the party”.

He added that peer review was necessary to step up the course of development across the states of the federation.

While welcoming governor Makinde, Wike said he was happy with the visit and promised to reciprocate it at an appropriate time

He said It is good for us to continue to compare notes to learn best practices from each other,”.

Also speaking, Makinde said what happened at the House of Representatives where the position of the PDP was subverted called for concern.

If the party takes a position on certain things, we want to ensure that, that is carried through,” Makinde added.
