Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Babayo Gamawa has died at 53 years, after a brief illness in Bauchi. Isa Gadau, his spokesperson told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that Sen. Gamawa was taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) after he complained of stomach ache, he was later admitted and confirmed dead.

Sen. Babayo Gamawa was born on 2nd February 1966, attended University of Jos, Plateau State.


He served as Speaker Bauchi State House of Assembly and Deputy Governor, after the impeachment of the then Deputy Governor, late Alhaji Mohammed Gadi.


Gamawa's political career blossomed as he was elected Senator in 2011 under the platform of PDP and served as Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Aviation and a member of the Land Transport Committee.
