Following reports making the rounds on social media over the alleged sacking of one Daniel Utomette's, an employee of Ibom Air over his affiliation with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the party has bemoaned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state for the action.

According to a statement signed by the APC chairman in the state, Obong Iniobong John, the APC questioned the Akwa Ibom state governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel and the management of the Ibom Air for being a member of the party. Mr Obong while condemning the act said that "government offices and establishments are opened for everybody and not members of a certain political party."

"We used to think and believe that one can seek and get an employment opportunity in the state without necessarily belonging to the party in power in the state," he recounts.

Mr John further revealed that a task force was also set up by the state government to identify every APC member or sympathizer in the state civil service for political victimization. He noted that PDP members are being discriminated against in any programmes and schemes of the APC-led federal government.
