The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has warned officers billed to handle the 2018 recruitment exercise to eschew all forms of sharp practices or be ready to face serious sanctions. The IGP issued the warning on Saturday while addressing Commissioners of Police and other senior officers nominated to serve as Heads of Police Recruitment Screening Committee in the 37 commands of the federation.
It was also contained in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, He said officers nominated to handle the exercise must be thorough and above board and must ensure that the screening exercise was smooth, hitch free and devoid of any form of corrupt practice.
The statement read in part
“Successful candidates, after the physical screening, will undergo a written aptitude test to be conducted by Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, explaining that the decision taken by the police authorities was to ensure transparency and get the best out of the candidates.”
He further disclosed that medical examination will be conducted for each candidate in visual assessment which covers far and near visual acuity, binocular vision, colour vision, visual field testing and pathology.
He added that others areas would be on “general medical test which covers blood pressure, sugar, body mass index, hepatitis b and c, HIV screening, guberculosis, antigen in serum and pregnancy test (for women only) and psychological evolution of the candidates which covers psychological interview, personality and integrity as well as drug screening.
“The Inspector General of Police also directed that the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Training and Development should embark on monitoring and assessment of the exercise throughout the 36 states and the FCT to ensure that the exercise is carried out in line with best practices.
