DSS Warns Politicians Against ‘Unguarded’ Statements

The Department of State Services (DSS) has warned politicians against making “unguarded statements” that could disrupt public order. The DSS was reacting to a statement reportedly made by the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu during an event in Owerri, Imo State on 23 February 2022, where he said that when PDP reclaims power in 2023, the party will not use the DSS “to kill people as the APC-led administration did”.

Buhari Signs Electoral Bill Into Law

President Muhammadu Buhari has on Friday signed the Electoral Act Amendment Bill 2022 into law. The bill was signed at the Council Chamber of the President Villa in the presence of the President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, witnessed the signing of the bill alongside members of the President’s cabinet including his Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, among others.

President Buhari To Attend EU-AU Summit In Belgium

President Muhammadu Buhari will depart the country on Tuesday to join other African leaders and heads of multilateral organisations for the sixth European Union-African Union (EU-AU) summit in Brussels, Belgium. The summit, which holds February 17 and 18, 2022, will have the participants deliberate on themes currently affecting the world. According to a statement by Garba Shehu, senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, such areas of discussion will include Financing for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth; Climate Change and Energy Transition, Digital and Transport (Connectivity and Infrastructure); Peace, Security, and Governance; and Private Sector Support and Economic Integration.

APC To Postpone Feb 26 Convention

Chairman All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker: Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Mai Mala Buni, has stated that the party is not ready for the February 26 convention and that a new date will soon be announced. As the party look for ways to ensure a credible and successful convention, the CECPC  of the party and APC governors would meet President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday 19th of February 2022 to propose a new date.

President Buhari Louds His Achievements, Legacy

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday revealed that by the time he vacates office as President of Nigeria on May 9, 2023, he would have bequeathed a home-grown economy, stable democracy and revamped security forces to the country.
Speaking at a dinner in honour of the 2022 Committee of Business, Political, Media and Civil Society Leaders, the President said he was looking forward to completing his tenure in 2023, leaving a legacy for a united, peaceful, and prosperous Nigeria with 24 years of uninterrupted democracy. He assured Nigerians that his administration will finish strong in the last lap of his tenure. “I am gradually entering my final year in office. It is a period I intend to spend not only on consolidating on the achievements of the past seven years but also to leave a legacy for a united, peaceful, and prosperous Nigeria.
