Kano PDP Gov. Candidate: Appeal Court Sacks Abacha, Restores Wali

The Court of Appeal sitting in Kano State has sacked Mohammed Abacha as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. The court set aside the judgment of a High Court that recognized Abacha as the party’s governorship candidate in the state and ordered that Sadiq Wali, remained the state’s valid governorship candidate.

Adeleke Faults Tribunal’s Judgment, Vows To Appeal

The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has faulted the judgment of the governorship election petitions tribunal describing it as “a miscarriage of justice”, vowing to challenge the ruling at the Court of Appeal. The State Governorship election petitions tribunal sitting in Osogbo nullified the election of Adeleke as Governor of the state. In its ruling on Friday, the tribunal declared Gboyega Oyetola the validly elected governor of the state. In August 2022, Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress (APC) petitioned the tribunal to challenge the election victory of Adeleke. Oyetola also challenged Adeleke’s eligibility to contest the election.

2023: Mock Accreditation Of Voters To Hold Feb. 4-INEC Chairman

In preparation for the 2023 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it would conduct mock accreditation of registered voters on Saturday, February 4, 2023, which was made known on Friday by INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu in a meeting with all the 37 Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) across the country, adding that the exercise is meant to test the efficacy of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) ahead of the Presidential and National Assembly scheduled to hold on February 25, 2023.

Nigerian Army Assures Imo Residence Of Peaceful Elections

The 34 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Obinze, Owerri, says it remains committed to the security of lives of Imo electorate during and after the 2023 elections. 2023 Elections: INEC To Conduct Mock Accreditation Exercise

In preparation for the 2023 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) disclosed that it would conduct mock accreditation exercises at selected polling units across the country to test the integrity of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS). This was made known on Tuesday during a media interaction at the Chatham House, London by the Commission’s Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.
