Dr. Ben Nwoye, Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Enugu state has revealed that more of the Governors, Lawmakers from the southeast are mulling to join the progressive. Triggered by the defection of the Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi to APC, the caucus of the progressive in their numbers stormed, Abakiliki, the state capital to accept the governor.

Nwoye was speaking to newsmen at the Akanu Abiam International Airport, Enugu, revealing that more Governors of the South-East are set to defect to the ruling party.

He said Umahi's decision was a wise one describing his developmental project across the state as a character of the APC rapid Infrastructural development.

Though, Umahi attributed his defection to the ruling party as a protest to the perceived marginalization of Igbos’ by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing the governor's move like a live wire that would connect the South-East to the national grid.

In his statement, “Governor Umahi has made a wise decision. When you look at the development of his State, from the four corners and the center, what you see there is the character of APC infrastructural development.

“So moving away from PDP to APC is natural. Like he said that the PDP has marginalized South East in the cause of time, what we are seeking is regional integration. He has identified the source of the marginalization as being historically PDP induced.

According to Nwoye, the Umahi move was a calculated one as it is set to benefit his region from the national grid describing the move as a political earthquake of modern politics in the South-East describing it as a singular act that will realign a political permutation in the region.

Consequently, he revealed soon Governors of PDP extraction would have no need to remain in the PDP advising those who wrote the south-east off to have a rethink.

Meanwhile, on his visit to Abuja, Nwoye disclosed they were on a mission to re-strategize the party especially now that the Isi-Uzo state constituency election is fast approaching, their party must emerge victoriously.
