Two members from the House of Representative has today defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC) The two lawmakers are Ephraim Nwuzi, representing Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency in Rivers state, and David Abel from Gashaka/Kurmi/Sardauna Federal Constituency in Taraba state. Speaker of the House of Representative, Femi Gbajabiamila revealed this while reading their letter of defection at the floor of the house during the plenary.
In reaction to the defection, the Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu and the Deputy Minority Leader of the House, Toby Okechukwu and other elders of the PDP caucus kicked and demanded that their seats be declared vacant at the hallowed chamber.
However, the Speaker declined their point of order, describing their demand as hypocrisy and blamed the PDP for laying the foundation of illegal defection at the floor of the house while in power.
