Residents of Akure, Ondo State capital specifically Oba Nla, Oba Adesida road, Arakale, and Oja Oba areas were thrown into confusion following a clash that ensued between All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youths, ahead of the October 10 governorship election. It was gathered that many have been injured in the clash that was said to be a reprisal of the killing of an APC member in Oba Bla area of Akure on Saturday night.

Residents and passers-by of the area had to run to safety while vehicular movement was halted during the clash.

It was gathered that the clash started late Saturday evening at Obanla Junction, Oba Adesida Road when one of the supporters of APC was allegedly beaten by that of PDP.

Some civil society organizations have cautioned that the October 10 governorship election in the state may be marred with violence.
