The Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Nasiru Ajanah on Monday inaugurated a seven-man panel to investigate allegations of gross misconduct levelled against Deputy Governor Simon Achuba by the State House of Assembly.

According to Punch, the State Assembly had two weeks ago asked the Chief Judge to investigate allegations of gross misconduct against the Deputy governor following series of press interviews where he accused the Governor of withholding his impress and allowances since 2017.

The seven-man panel includes Mr. John Baiyeshea (SAN) as chairman and Bamidele Aina as secretary.

In his speech at the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Judge said the appointment was in pursuant to section 188(5) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as (amended).

He said that members of the panel were appointed with the knowledge that they were people of unquestionable character and integrity.

"You have been asked to investigate the allegations against His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Kogi state in line with section 188 of the 1999 constitution as amended,” he said

The CJ urged them to carry out their duty without fear or favour

“The basic rule of fair hearing must be sacrosanct in your proceedings. I have no doubt you will discharge this duty which you owe God and Kogi State meritoriously,” Ajanah added.
