The General Overseer of the Citadel Global church and also one-time running mate to President Buhari in the 2011 general election, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has endorsed the move by the federal government to regulate the social media space.
The cleric revealed that the way we abuse the use of social media in Nigeria if not censored would set the country ablaze one day.
He said laws should be enacted to guide people's conduct on social media in the country for the benefit of all.
Bakare made this statement while addressing newsmen yesterday in Lagos state insisting that freedom of speech should have boundaries.
In his remarks, “There is no free freedom anywhere in the world; there must be freedom with boundary.
“I am not saying curtail them or we can’t use social media in Nigeria. But there is no nation where there are no balances.
According to the clergyman, he made reference to the claim by the EndSARS protesters of framing the Nigerian Army of killing innocent protesters at Lekki with a drama fake video, saying this is beyond freedom of speech.
However, he urged the government to wear a human face while enacting laws that would benefit all and sundry.
He said though we are not going back to ‘Decree 4’ therefore the laws should not be draconian.
Meanwhile, he hopes that he becomes the Nigerian president one day soon.
