President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday met behind closed-door with heads of security agencies in the country as part of efforts to address growing insecurity across parts of the country. The Presidency confirmed the meeting in a tweet posted on its verified Twitter handle @NGRPresident. The tweet reads;

"Security meeting today, presided over by President Buhari. NSA, Service Chiefs, Intelligence Chiefs, IGP, in attendance. President briefed on Intelligence Gathering and Law enforcement efforts across the country by the various agencies."

According to a source in the Presidency, the new Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Abubakar, attended the security meeting for the first time since his recent appointment.

The meeting is coming barely a day after former President Olusegun Obasanjo berated the President over the state of insecurity in the country.
