The Africa-Global Empowerment and Development Network (AGED-Network) announced that the Nigerian Army, Air Force, Navy, Police and other security agencies would receive $1Bn from the government of Qatar to acquire modern equipment.
This was disclosed on Wednesday by the President of AGED-Network, Dr Bala Kontagara in Abuja at a conference titled ‘National Conference on the roles of Nigeria’s Security Agencies in the COVID-19 Pandemic Environment’, organized in partnership with the National Defence College.
He said, “We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Defence College through the centre for strategic research and studies with the primary purpose of advancing security sector reforms and synergies between all security agencies.
“Our relentless efforts have enabled us to secure $1Bn from the government of Qatar through our unique and professional relationship with Sheikh (Dr.) Badr Al-Hajri, who personally visited AGED-Network in Abuja.”
Some of the funds of the $1Bn grant will be used to build an ultra-modern hospital for personnel of the Armed Forces and also develop the training schools and colleges of the Nigeria Police Force.
