President Muhammadu Buhari has said pledged his full support to the Judicial Panel of Inquiry set up by the Lagos State Government even as it gets ready to commence this week. President Buhari stated that all the state panels will assist in ensuring justice is served on behalf of the peaceful protesters and law enforcement agents who unfortunately lost their lives. Mr. president made the above promise public yesterday on his twitter handle @MBuhari.

Recall that Lagos state government inaugurated an 8-man Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution to investigate cases of police brutality in the state October, 19, following outbreak of violence during the #EndSARS protests.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, while noting the above cited Section 5 of Tribunals of Inquiry Law, Laws of Lagos State, 2015 as a legal justification to set up the panel. He said it will be joined by 2 youth reps and a member of the Human Rights Commission.

Sanwo-Olu added that the Lagos government has witnessed the cries of the youth against police brutality and admitted that the pains are legitimate.

Also note that the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo announced earlier on that the 36 State Governors and the FCT Minister will set up judicial panels of inquiry that will adopt public hearings.
