The Executive Governor of Borno State, His Excellency, Professor Babagana Zulum on Wednesday escaped an ambush by gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members. An aide to the Governor who confirmed the development noted that the Governor was attacked while on transit from Baga where he had distributed food items and other palliatives to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). The aide emphasised that the Governor was unhurt after the ambush.

In his Facebook post, Mohammed Bukar wrote: “To our concern citizens, H.E Prof Zulum and his entourage are fine and there were no casualties.”

Baga is a fishing town in the Nothern part of Borno State which has witnessed a series of attacks by the Boko Haram members. Meanwhile, the recent ambush on the Governor’s convoy is the second attempt after a failed attack in 2019 by the terrorist.
