War On Terror: Over 200 Bandits Killed In Kastina, Zamfara Air Raid – DHQ

Over 200 criminal bandits were killed by the army between Zamfara and Kastina state in multiple airstrikes.

According to the Nigerian Army Headquarters, the air raid was conducted at Ibrahim Mai’Bai’s camp in Jibia local Govt. Area of Kastina state and Kurmin Kura in Zurmi Local Govt Area of Zamfara state between 22 and 23rd May 2020.

Confirming the incident, the coordinator, Defence Media operation, Maj. Gen John Eneche said the air raid was conducted after a series of intelligence, surveillance and recognisance missions were conducted.

According to Eneche, the two locations were being used as a hideout by the bandits as well as a collection point of rustled cattle’s.

The air component, employing the Nigerian Air Force ground attack aircraft and helicopter gunships, engaged the two locations in multiple passes destroying the makeshift structure in the camp as well as killing many bandits kingpins and their fighters.

‘Human Intelligence (HUMINT) source later confirmed that close to 200 armed bandits were littered dead as a result of the airstrike at the target locations.

Commenting on the success, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, commended the air component of operation Hadarin Daji for their professionalism and directed them to never lose focus until the bandits are brought to their knees.

Air Mashal Sadique added that this would lead to achieving directives of the chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of restoring normalcy in the North West and Northcentral region of the country.
