Following the increase in cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, the Federal Government has taken it as a measure to contain the dreaded virus through shutting down, Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Aminu Kano International Airport and Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa.

The order was signed by Capt. Isa Nuhu, the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on behalf of the Nigerian Government, saying the measure was part of the strategy to arrest the spread of the coronavirus across the country.

The DG NCAA revealed that three Airports would be closed down until further notice with effect from Saturday, March 21, 2020.

Nuhu added that the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos though would remain open but no flight operation would be accepted from the earlier thirteen countries pencilled down on blacklist with a high risk of the dreaded virus.

Recall on Wednesday that President Muhammadu Buhari imposed a travel ban on 13 different countries considered to be on the high risk of spreading the COVID-19, the countries including the United States and the UK.

The travel ban will be enforced with effect from March 21, 2020, though the country has continued to record new cases of the disease.
