The Ogun State government has today Okays the bill for the establishment of State Security Network Association also known as ‘Amotekun Corp Bill of 2020’.
The approval was granted during the State Executive Council meeting, and will subsequently be transmitted to the state House of Assembly for deliberation and further passage.
While addressing newsmen shortly after the meeting, Adegbolahan Adeniran, the state commissioner for justice and Attorney General disclosed the presence of the bill to the executive state council was in response to the earlier approval by the collective Attorney Generals of the six states of the south-west.
Adeniran hinted that the state Amotekun Corp will be headed by a state commandant and the law also allow for a collaborative effort between the states of the southwest.
He assured that the bill will be transmitted into the house before the weekend by the governor, expressing optimism that the bill will get speedy attention from the lawmakers.
His statement partly reads, “We presented the bill for the creation of the Ogun State Security Network Agency or what many call the Amotekun Corp Bill of 2020.
“The Executive Council of Ogun State met and adopted a draft as amended of a bill for a law to establish the Ogun State Security Network Agency.
“This agency is the agency that will comprise of the Amotekun Corp and this bill will be transmitted to the house of assembly before the end of this week.”
