Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has on Monday, 16th December 2019 advised the Federal Government to review its negotiation strategy with Boko-Haram and other splinter groups such as the Islamic States in West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The call was made in reaction to the barbaric killing of four aids personnel working with Action Against Hunger (AAH) by the Islamic State in West Africa (ISWAP).In addition to the review, the forum urged the Federal Government to intensify its rescue operations to allay the fears of families of those still in captivity.
In a statement made available to newsmen, Muhammed Ibrahim, ACF spokesman, described the action of the insurgents as “callous, barbaric and inhuman”, adding that “it is totally against the tenets of Islam and humanity”.
ACF lamented that assurances by the Government that it is working with other international organisations to save the lives of those kidnapped have not yielded the desired result.
ACF further expressed shocked and saddened by the news of yet another killing of aid workers, including a woman, by the BokoHaram terrorists yesterday in Borno state,” the statement reads in part.
Stressing further, the statement reads “It would be recalled that sometimes last year (2018) two female aid workers with International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) were abducted by the terrorists during an attack on the military base in Rann, Borno state, and were subsequently executed by the terrorists on the grounds that the Federal Government (FG) failed to meet up with some of their demands"...
The statement reiterated that“The killing is clear desecration of Islam which preaches sacred inviolability of the individual. The Federal Government’s assurances that it has been working with some friendly countries and other international organizations to save the lives of the innocent aid workers and other kidnapped female students have not yielded the desired result.
In furtherance to the above, ACF urges the FG to intensify its rescue operations in order to assuage the fears of families of those kidnapped and Nigerians as a whole of what may happen to those still in captivity, the likes of Leah Sharibu and the long-awaited Chibok school girls.
The statement encapsulated with ACF's commiseration with the families of those still in captivity as well as the extension ofits condolences to the bereaved families of thosewhose loved ones were brutally executed by those bunch of psychopath and heretics under the shadow of the peaceful Islam.
