DSS Asked Sowore’s Sureties To Come Forward For Him

The Department of State Services (DSS) has today, Tuesday revealed that it’s office is still keeping Sowore the “Revolution Now” convener is because those who volunteered to stand as his sureties have failed to come forward to fulfil documentation that will facilitate his release.

Mr. Peter Afunaya, the DSS spokesman disclosed this during a press conference at the Headquarters of the secret police in Abuja, saying the office has been taunted with unfair criticism from members of the public who are ignorant of the standard operational procedure of the intelligence organisation.

 

The Spokesperson explained that his office is one of the most respecters of law in Nigeria especially when such is coming from a law court, Sowore,s case require some administrative component of the Judicial pronouncement have to be fulfilled.

 

He said for anyone who wishes to stand in for Sowore as surety, that person must come to the DSS office in Abuja for some documentation before such order is executed.

 

He added that the Court is aware of the procedure and was duly informed in Sowore’s case, as it is an international practice to fulfill such a condition when releasing such a person on bail.

 

He explained that it’s not possible for the office to release Sowore to just anybody because he was granted bail.

 

He said this is against the service standard operational procedure to release him to some group of mobs who came demanding his release.
