The Kano state Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has revealed that as part of his effort in fighting the menace of drugs in the state has directed that all the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries in his cabinet to visit the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to undergo drug test to ascertain their state of mental Health before assuming office.
The Governor made this declaration during the swearing-in ceremony of 36 newly appointed permanent secretaries in Kano on Sunday by the state Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Ibrahim Mukhtar.
He threatened that any person who failed the test will be automatically dropped as his new administration has zero tolerance for drug addicts.
Ganduje opined that only those with sound and good mental health could be trusted with public office henceforth, this will enable them to deliver quality leadership to the people as the state target to move to the next level of Economic growth.
The Governor urged the newly appointed members to direct their energy in harnessing the internally generated revenue to enable the state to meet its obligation of paying the new minimum wage of the N30,000 to its civil servants.
He enjoined the permanent secretaries to live a leadership by example through being committed and dedicated leaders, and one way shall be that they are the first to report for work and last to leave.
Meanwhile, the governor added that being a gender friendly government, 30% of the slots went for women which have made it a reality for his campaign promises of taking women along.
