Army Receives Delivery Of Weapons, Ammunition

As part of plans to ensure a forfeited Army, equipped with assault rifles, the Nigerian Army has revealed that it has received the first trench of weapons and ammunition from Slovakia in Abuja.

 

The consignments from Slovakia were received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport Abuja in a charted Boeing 747-400 cargo plane.

 Inspecting the delivered items, Head, Nigerian Army Operation Monitoring Team, Brigadier General Robert Aiyenigba told journalists at the airport that the delivery is first in a series of weapons and ammunition to be delivered soon to the Nigeria Army.

He explained that the weapons and ammunition coming from Slovakia was procured mainly to boost the capabilities of troops fighting insurgency in the North East and banditry in other parts of the country. Aiyenigba, asserted that the ammunition received are for light weapons, medium weapons, and heavy weapons in the Nigerian Army inventory.
