Embattled Emifele: Court To Decide On His Application July, 13

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has fixed July 13th for the ruling on the application of the erstwhile Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Godwin Emifele. Defendants in the case are the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, the Director General of the States Security Service, DGSS and the States Security Service, SSS. The presiding judge, justice Hamza Mu’azu has yesterday fixed the hearing date after listening to both parties in the suit.

Vice President Shettima Decorates New Acting IGP

Vice President Kashim Shettima has decorated the newly appointed Inspector-General of Police (in an acting capacity), Kayode Egbetokun, barely 24 hours after his appointment. The ceremony which took place at the Presidential Villa at about 1300hours today had in attendance various dignitaries, in likes of: National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodinma; the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; and the immediate past IGP, Usman Alkali.

I Never Compromised My Office, Justice Bulkachuwa Speaks On Husband’s Confession

Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, wife of the embattled Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa who represented the Buchi Northern Senatorial district between 20215 to 2023 said contrary to her husband’s claim, she never at any point in time compromised the integrity of her office. The justice was reacting to comments from Nigerians that went viral over media quoting her husband of seeking Favour while serving as senator for his colleagues through his wife while she was serving as the Appeal Court President. 

President Tinubu Replaces Service Chiefs, NSA, Custom, Police and Others

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had yesterday retired all service Chiefs and has appointed new ones to replace them. In the list of the newly appointed security chiefs, Tinubu named mallam Nuhu Ribadu as the new National Security Adviser, NSA, after he was named the Special Adviser to president on security matter on Security to the president last week. The Director Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, OSGF, Willie Bassey, made the announcement through a statement yesterday.

EFCC Debunks News Declaring Matawalle Wanted

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied claims making the round online, that former Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle being declared wanted by its agency. In a statement released on Sunday and signed by the commission’s Head, Media & Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, the commission said it never asked the Department of State Service to arrest the former governor reiterating it will only follow the standard procedure in the case with the former governor. The statement reads: “The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been drawn to a report, entitled, Alleged N70b Fraud: EFCC Declares Ex-Zamfara Gov, Matawalle Wanted, which appeared in the Sunday Tribune of June 18, 2023, and purports that the Commission had declared a former Zamafara State governor, Bello Matawalle wanted and requested the Department of State Service, DSS, to arrest him, “anywhere he is seen”.
