Rescued Kaduna School Children Reunited With Their Parents

The 137 Kaduna school children rescued from terrorists were today March 28, 2024, officially reunited with their families. The parents met the children in the presence of some top government officials led by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdulkadir Meyere. The state government announced on Sunday that the students were rescued in Zamfara State. They were returned and received in Kaduna on Monday by Governor Uba Sani.
The children were abducted on March 7 and rescued 17 days after in Zamfara State by the military.

NFIU Reveals Terrorism Financing Via Betting Platforms, Crowdfunding

The Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) has revealed the alleged financing of terrorist groups in Nigeria like the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), bandits and other similar groups. This revelation was contained in a newsletter which stated that these groups receive funds via sports betting platforms and crowdfunding. The newsletter reads, “Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country has faced significant challenges related to terrorism financing, particularly due to the activities of Boko Haram and other extremist groups operating within its borders.

Remains of Slain Delta Soldiers Arrive Abuja Military Cemetery

The remains of the military personnel gruesomely murdered in Delta State recently arrived at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja for burial today at about 2:39 pm in ambulance vehicles, with President Tinubu Ahmed in attendance. On 14th March 2024, 17 soldiers comprising a lieutenant colonel, two majors, one captain, and twelve others were killed while on a "peacekeeping mission" in the Okuama community. Okuama and Okoloba communities in Delta State have been embroiled in a bitter dispute over the ownership of a stretch of land located on their border. 

Counter Terrorism Centre: President Tinubu Appoints Laka As Coordinator

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Major General Adamu Laka as the Coordinator of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre which is under the supervision of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). This was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday by Ajuri Ngelale, the Presidential Spokesperson, which also stated that he served in various capacities in the North-East of the country during which he “deployed tactical means to degrade terrorist groups.”
