Universities across the country had earlier suspended academic activities until 14th March when the elections would’ve been concluded. However, the tertiary institutions have extended their resumption dates after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) rescheduled the March 11 governorship elections to 18th March. The postponement of the resumption dates has raised concerns among stakeholders in the education sector, stating that schools are still trying to recover from last year’s eight-month strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Aside from others who are yet to release new resumption dates, and the University of Abuja which had engaged students virtually throughout the period, the following institution has released new dates.

University of Lagos (UNILAG) — March 21

Lagos State University (LASU) — March 21

Godfrey Okoye University (GOUNI) — March 21

Bells University of Technology, Ota — March 20

Redeemer’s University — March 20

Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) — March 20

Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) — March 20
