In an attempt to end the deadlock over refusal of some University lecturers to enroll into the Integrated Personnel and Payroll System (IPPS) policy of the Federal Government, on 2nd December, 2019, Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris issued a letter to all the Vice-Chancellors of the Federal Universities warning that, lecturers who failed to enrol on the IPPIS platform on or before Friday, December 6, 2019, will be appropriately sanctioned.
In the statement, Ahmed disclosed that some Vice-Chancellors (VC) of Federal Universities are yet to enrol on the IPPIS one week after the commencement of the exercise. The AGF expressed his displeasure on the passive response by the leadership of these Universitiesdescribing itas an indirect demonstration of their unwillingness to key into this Government policy which was designed to promote transparency and accountability in Government expenditure.
The statement further called on Universities that are yet to key into this policy. The deadline according to the Accountant-General of the Federation, is to enable the Federal Ministry of finance to meet the timeframe set by the Federal Government for the payroll of all Federal Universities.
