FUTA Expels "John Wick" and Five Others

The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Ondo State, has expelled six students for bullying and assaulting a female undergraduate, Boluwatife Adekunle.

In an incident which occurred in an off-campus hostel on Saturday, November 16, 2019, reveals in a viral video that Boluwatife was battered and beaten for allegedly spreading gossip about one of them. The six (6) students involved in dehumanizing the victim are Olaniyi Agboola (300L); Oluwadare Faith Tobiloba ( 200L); Nandi Yohanna Jessica ( 200L); Ajuwon Tolani Emmanuella (100L), Emmanuel Funmilayo Taiwo (100L), and Alao Olabimpe (100 L).

However, according to the management of the institution in a statement said that the culprits who were earlier suspended by the institution, have been expelled

"The expulsion is sequel to the recommendation of an investigative panel which probed the incident that took place in a hostel on Saturday, November 16, 2019 and adjudged them culpable of gross misconduct and breach of the University Matriculation Oath.

"The expulsion is in line with the position of page 48 of the 2019/2020 students handbook which prescribes expulsion from the university for students who engage in physical assault or battery on another student outside the university premise," FUTA spokesperson Mr Adegbenro Adebanjo.
