The former Minister of Education and Co-Convener of the Bring Back Our Girls Group (BBOG) Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, has reacted to reports of alleged abduction of 94 girls from the Government Girls Science and Technical Secondary School in Dapchi, Yobe state by Boko Haram on Monday.
Oby who condemned the Federal Government for remaining silent and failing to speak on the matter said she was waiting for the official statement on the matter. He tweets read;
“God forbids that .@AsoRock @MBuhari & @HQNigerianArmy continue to keep the Public in suspense any further on what really happened two days ago at the Government Girls Science and Technical Secondary School, Dapchi Yobe State following a reported Boko Haram attack.
God forbids that NOTHING was at all learned in all these years #ChibokGirls on how FG should transparently engage the Public on matters like the allegations flying about on Government Girls Science and Technical Secondary School, Dapchi Yobe State after a Boko Haram attack.
God forbids that we are indeed missing daughters who went to school once again. God forbids that anything resembling a re-enactment of the torture of the nearly four years of our #ChibokGirlsTragedy has happened to Nigeria. Ah. God forbids THIS EVIL IN OUR LAND a second time.
All one has done is WAIT ON FG for OFFICIAL STATEMENT since late night Monday that news on Government Girls Science&Technical Secondary School, Dapchi Yobe State Boko Haram attack filtered into the public space. Sadly, as happened in the #ChibokGirlsTragedy, FG is OMINOUSLY MUM.
Let me ask President @MBuhari‘s @AsoRock , “Are you at all AWARE that it is being alleged that 94 daughters of Nigeria were abducted from the Boarding School -Government Girls Science and Technical Secondary School, Dapchi Yobe State after a Boko Haram attack? WHAT’S THE FACT?"
Vigil360 had earlier reported that following an attack on the school by members of Boko Haram, teachers and students boarding in the school escaped. Meanwhile, a recent headcount carried out yesterday revealed that 94 of the girls were still missing. The management of the school has called on parents and guardians to quickly report whether their wards escaped home.
