A Federal High Court in Abuja has on Monday declined a bail request by Abba Kyari, Deputy Commissioner of Police and former head of the IGP Intelligence Response Team (IRT), who is in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over alleged involvement in the 25kg cocaine deal. Kyari's lawyer, Cynthia Obianuju Ikena argued the ex-parte application was on health grounds. The presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo ordered Kyari to notify the NDLEA and adjourned the suit until February 24 for a hearing.
“My client is diabetic and hypertensive,” Ms Ikena told journalists shortly after the suit was adjourned
Vigil360news reports that Kyari was arrested by the NDLEA over alleged aiding and abetting drug pushing and also running his own cartel.
The arrested cop has been indicted in an internet fraud case by a United States court involving Ramon Abbas, popularly known as "Hushpuppi".
