Cour De’Appel De Cotonou has on Monday declined the extradition of the Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho to Nigeria and ordered that he remains in police custody pending further investigation. However, the court granted Igboho access to medical care, after his lawyers failed to secure bail for the activist.
Also, Journalists and supporters of Igboho were dispersed from the court premises, as there was limited attendance to lawyers, Igboho’s wife, Ropo, and a few others.
Vigil360news reports that the activist was arrested alongside his wife on July 19, 2021 at the Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou, Benin Republic by the International Criminal Police Organisation on their way to Germany, but later released the Igboho’s wife.
Igboho was placed on watchlist by the Department of States Services (DSS) for alleged trafficking of arms, inciting violence in Nigeria.
