The presidency has disclosed that financiers of terrorism in Nigeria will soon be made public, hinted that some Bureau de change operators were identified to be amongst the banditry sponsors.

Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, made this known, saying there was evidence of money sent from United Arab Emirate (UAE) to Boko Haram terrorists via Bureau de change agents in Nigeria.

While speaking at a Chanel Television program, Shehu revealed that security operatives have since made some arrests of people in connection with the said crime.

He added, investigations have started to dig up all people in connection with the crime and would be made public for Nigerians to know who and who are the shadows behind the terrorism.

The spokesperson lamented that “It is shocking to any Nigerian that places of worship and farmland are places where killers of policemen and security officials are being harbored.

He revealed that the new service chiefs and the intelligence organization are putting heads together to unmask the shadow behind the crime.

“A lot of people have been arrested in terms of their financing (of terrorism), saying others were already in custody awaiting detailed investigation.

Shehu further explained that “Bureau de Change is facilitating money to terrorists. We have already concluded with the UAE on Nigerians who are transferring money to Boko Haram terrorists and this also happens domestically.

“And I tell you that by the time we conclude this investigation, the shocking details will surprise many Nigerians.”
