Gunmen Abduct Over 300 Schoolgirls In Zamfara

At least 300 schoolgirls have on Friday been abducted by suspected bandits from Government Girls Secondary School in Jangebe town, Talata-Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State. According to some school staff, the bandits who disguised themselves as security personnel arrived at the school around 2 am, shooting sporadically before breaking into the school and abducting the schoolgirls from the hostel in Hilux vehicles and motorcycles.


The Commissioner of Security and Home Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Dauran confirmed the abduction, saying “I can confirm to you now that we have sadly received the report on the abduction of the students of GGSS Jangebe and right now, I am on my way to the school.

“At this moment, l cannot say how many students were taken away by the gunmen until l get there, but we have already mobilized security men and members of the vigilantatè who are now in pursuit of the abductors,”

The Jangebe schoolgirls' abduction comes days after the abduction of schoolboys and staff of Government Science College in Kagara in Niger State.

Also, bandits had kidnapped 300 schoolboys from Government Science Secondary School in Kankara, Katsina State. At least 300 schoolgirls have on Friday been abducted by suspected bandits from Government Girls Secondary School in Jangebe town, Talata-Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
