The Federal Government says the attempted attack on the Ikoyi Correctional Centre has been successfully repelled by the security agents. This afternoon, there was attempted jailbreak on the prison by the protesters of EndSARS in Lagos. Though the protesters have set part of the facility ablaze but did not succeed in gaining entrance. In reaction to the incidence, the Ministry of Interior has assured that the situation was brought under control.
The Federal Government said armed prison operatives in collaboration with police have successfully repelled the attack.
Meanwhile, on the arson, the prison officials have confirmed that the Fire Service is on top of the situation.
The officials said; “Armed squad of the @CorrectionsNg, @CIVILDEFENDERS, @PoliceNG and men of the Nigerian Army are providing security at the facility. @Fedfireng is dealing with the fire.
“Ignore rumours of inmate escaping!”, the ministry tweeted.
