DSS Apprehend Bauchi Scholar Grandson’s Kidnappers

The Department of States Services (DSS) in Bauchi state said it has apprehended one Umar Ahmed 27yrs suspected to be the kidnapper of the three years old grandson of the renowned Bauchi state cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi.

 

According to the secret police, they rescued the boy and recovered from the criminal suspect money suspected to be the ransom he collected, the sum of N2.5 million.

The toddler was abducted from his parent’s resident in Bauchi on 22nd May 2020.

The Director of the DSS in Bauchi state, Muhammad Alhassan, disclosed they arrested the suspect in collaboration with the police in Kano.

Alhassan said the suspect initially demanded N10 million naira ransom but subsequently negotiated to N6 million.

In his statement, ‘we immediately swung into action after our intelligence gathering uncovered the hideout of the criminal at Liberty Hotel room 37 Sabon Gari Abba road.

He continued “After raiding the Hotel, we rescued the kidnapped boy who was found to be healthy, arrested the kidnapper and recovered the money which we withdrew from his bank account”

He said the suspect would be handed over to the police for onwards prosecution after interrogation.
