The Joint Investigation Panel, set up by General Gabriel Olonisakin, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) to probe into the real culprits behind the killing of the former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh has concluded their investigation saying it was not political.

Major General Bamidele, the team leader of the Investigation Panel disclosed this on Wednesday at the Mogadishu cantonment in Abuja while parading 15 suspects who were alleged to have a connection with the case.

Bamidele said, the assault and killing of the former CDS on 18th December 2018 was purely a criminal conduct and does not have connotation with politics.

According to General Shafa, after an investigation by the panel, 20 suspects were arrested for having a connection with the crime; however, it was narrowed down to 15 suspects after thorough investigation.

He said: “The 15 suspects in custody confessed to their direct involvement in the crime. “The suspects used automatic weapons and locally made guns during the crime of killing the Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh.

“This was buttressed by the result of the autopsy examination and weapons recovered from the residence of the suspects,”

General Shafa added that the suspects also admitted to have kidnapped one Engr Joseph Okpetu, who was with the former CDS and received N2 million before releasing him.

He said some of those arrested include; Aliyu Usman, a major suspect and ring leader of the gang; Shuaibu Rabo identified as the second in command; Yahaya Nuhu and Alhaji Lamido Tahara third in command.
