The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) said the Air Task Force (ATF) on operation DIRAN MIKIYA has destroyed bandit’s logistic base at Ajia in Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas of the state. NAF Director of public relations and information, Ibikunle Daramola disclosed this in a statement while briefing journalist in Abuja.

He said the ATF also succeeded in neutralises dozens of the criminals at Ajia and Wonaka in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area.

Daramola further stated that the operation was carried out sequel to Human intelligence (HUMINT) reports, which indicated that the criminals were making the use of one compound within Ajia village as their logistics base for their operation.

Subsequently, the officer added, “ the ATF dispatched an Alpha Jet, supported by an Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform, to attack the compound scoring accurate strikes on the target while setting it ablaze, which engulfed the house and resulted in the neutralisation of some of the bandits,”.

The spokesman further stated that few survivors were seen fleeing the area of the target, and were taken out in follow-on attacks while others, who managed to escape the area, were tracked to Wonaka and equally destroyed.

“Independent HUMINT sources later confirmed that more than 25 bandits were neutralised in the attacks on the two locations.

Meanwhile, the NAF, working in collaboration with sister services and other security agencies, will continue to sustain its operations to neutralise the bandits and deny them freedom of action in the Northwest,” (NAN)
