Crude Oil Theft: Navy Intercepts Ghanaian Vessel, Arrests 13

The Nigerian Navy revealed that one of its ship, Beecroft, intercepted a Ghana-registered vessel, Motor Tanker Sweet Miri which was headed to Benin Republic with about 2 million litres of stolen crude oil. This was made known in a statement by the Base Information Officer of Beecroft, Lieutenant Hussaini Ibrahim, who also disclosed the arrest of the intercepted vessel’s 13 crew members, 12 Nigerians and 1 Ghanaian.

3-Month-Old Baby For N2m- NAPTIP

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, in collaboration with the Ekiti State Liaison Office in Ilupeju-Ekiti has arrested two suspected baby traders in Ekiti State. The Head of NAPTIP, Ekiti Liaison Office, Oladimeji Samson, stated that one of the suspects, Ifeoma Ejide, allegedly sold a female baby to another Funmilayo Ibitoye, who allegedly bought the baby for N2 million. Samson in his statement revealed that, “My colleagues came from Abuja for a case of a woman that has a baby factory at Owo, Ondo State and the woman was arrested in Owo and from there they traced where she sold the baby.” 

Nigerian Police Arrests Four Currency Counterfeiters In Lagos

The Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos, has arrested members of a syndicate among who are a couple, a former soldier and a printer, for allegedly producing fake currencies.The suspects Mr Oludare Olamilekan, 50; his wife Oluwayemisi, 46; Ilelabayo Johnson, 62, who identified himself as a retired Colonel and Adeniyi Quadri, 35, who were paraded by the Assistant Inspector- General of Police, AIG Olatoye Durosinmi, were discovered to have been distributing the fake currencies to Bureau De Change operators both in Nigeria and Cameroun and through POS services in Nigeria. AIG Durosinmi disclosed that the arrests were made following intelligence report about the hideout of one of the suspects, Quadri, who allegedly printed and supplied the fake currencies to other members of the syndicate.

FCTA to Destroy Impounded Substandard Vehicles

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has revealed its intention to destroy over 130 impounded vehicles that failed integrity tests This development was made public by the Director, of the Department of Road Traffic Services (DRTS), Dr Abdulateef Bello, after a tour with journalists around the impounded vehicles in the various offices, in Abuja on Monday. Bello said that the vehicles would be subjected to all standard verification for registration, roadworthiness, and other checks, stressing that those that failed short of the minimum standard would be crushed.
