Ban On Telecom Services To Be Lifted Before January – Gov. Masari

The Katsina State Government has on Tuesday announced that it will lift the ban on telecommunication services in the remaining seven affected Local Government Areas (LGAs) before January 2022. Governor Aminu Bello Masari made the disclosure while addressing journalists in Katsina, assuring residents that the government will protect them against Banditry. Recall that the Katsina State Government recently lifted the telecom ban on 10 out of 17 LGAs that suffered from banditry.

Invictus Obi To Be Released From US Prison In 2028

Obinwanne Okeke, popularly known was Invictus Obi, will be released from an American prison in September 2028. The United States Federal Bureau of Prisons disclosed this via a statement on its website. Mr. Okeke is being held at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI), Oakdale. FCI, Oakdale located in Allen, Western Louisiana is a low security federal correctional institution with an adjacent minimum security satellite camp. It has a population of 1,083 male inmates. It is an all-male inmates facility, with 997 inmates in the FCI and 86 at the camp. He was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison earlier in the year after he was linked to a computer-based intrusion fraud scheme that resulted in approximately $11 million in known losses to his victims. On September 9, 2019, he was charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit computer fraud.

NDLEA Intercepts 64,000 Gun Cartridges, Rescue 34 Trafficked Children

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted 64,000 pump action gun cartridges and a new pump action gun at a store located at Success Line, marine modern market, Onitsha, Akwa North Local Government Area of Anambra State. The discovery, which led to the arrest of an arms dealer, Donatus Onyemachi Igwebudu 34 years, followed credible intelligence on drugs and arms deals in the location. Supported by the Nigerian Army, NDLEA operatives stormed the store on Wednesday and moved the arms and ammunition to the NDLEA’s office in Akwa, the state capital. NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, who confirmed the incident on Friday revealed that the agency also intercepted 34 children being trafficked from Ijebu-Ode in Ogun to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja. “The minors packed in two commercial buses, Toyota Sienna and a 12-seater Mazda with registration numbers Lagos LND124FV and Oyo BDJ-683YK respectively, were recovered in the early hours of Thursday, 16th December from the human trafficking syndicate,” Babafemi said.

EFCC Arrests Fake Currency Syndicate, Advises Nigerians To Be Cautious

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja has announced the arrest of members of a criminal syndicate that specializes in producing counterfeit foreign currency for sale to members of the public. This was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement by the spokesperson of EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren who stated that it was a joint operation with personnel of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
