COVID-19 Vaccine: No Individual Would Be Compelled To Take Jab – FG

Following the skepticism surrounding the myth of the coronavirus vaccine, the Federal Government has disclosed that no Nigerian would be compelled to take the dose of the vaccine against their wish.

This was revealed by the Minister of state for health, Olorunimbe Mamora yesterday while having an interactive session with Arise Television.

The minister said, ”Nothing will be made mandatory. It’s optional. The choice is yours. Nobody will be forced to take any vaccine,”.

However, when he was asked whether it would later be made mandatory, he said, “If that happens, it would not be a decision of Nigeria.”

According to him, just like the yellow card certificate, countries of the world may start demanding for coronavirus certificate before you would get access to their country.

Meanwhile, he admitted that Nigeria may be influenced by a demand by other countries of the world for a certificate of vaccination in a like manner, saying “it may just be something that will become global.”

The minister disclosed that though there were calls from other Nigerians that citizens who have received the vaccine abroad must still be tested upon arrival into the country.

In a twist, Mamora added that getting the vaccine is not immunity against contracting the virus; one may still have it he said.
