The Federal Government has barred unvaccinated civil servants from work with effect from December 2021. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha made the announcement on Wednesday in Abuja, during a national briefing of the committee. "With effect from 1st December 2021, Federal Government employees shall be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result done within 72 hours, to gain access to their offices, in all locations within Nigeria and our Missions. An appropriate service-wide advisory/circular will be issued to guide the process," Mustapha said.

He explained that statistics generated over the last month on testing have shown the trend of infection declining in some states while increasing in others, adding that the combine total for testing in Nigeria by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) is about 3,141,795 million persons.

Speaking on the diplomatic sector, Mustapha disclosed that after a review of PSC testings South Africa, Turkey, and Brazil have been taken off the restricted list, leaving the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the only country on the High-level restriction list.

“The Aviation authorities in collaboration with the diplomatic sector have made reasonable progress in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Discussions are still ongoing with the UAE Authorities to resolve the impasse”, he said.
