The Federal Government has announced that 27 foreigners and 62 Nigerians are wanted for flouting COVID 19 safety protocols put in place for returnees from countries with a high incidence of COVID 19.
The affected countries are Turkey, Brazil, and India. This was disclosed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman, Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19, Mr. Boss Mustapha.
Mustapha said the violators arrived in Nigeria through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja between May 8 and May 15.
The violators have been declared Persons of Interest (POI) due to their danger to overall public health and for violation of the country's COVID 19 travel protocol.
Mustapha said, "Members of the public are by this notice advised that these Persons of Interest constitute an immediate health hazard to the society. They must therefore transport themselves safely, to the nearest state public health departments within 48 hours of this notice for immediate evaluation and call the Port Health Services, Federal Ministry of Health on 08036134672 or 08032461990 for further directions."
A list of the wanted violators along with their nationality, passport number, airline, and date of arrival will be released for members of the public.
