The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has yesterday disclosed that the country has recorded 40 fresh cases of coronavirus infections pushing the toll in the country to surpass 166,000 as at the time of filing this report.
The global pandemic which has affected every aspect of the global economy and lifestyle has continued to bit hard though with a manageable number in Africa and has cost about 2,067 lives in Nigeria as at the time of filing this report.
More than two-thirds of 16,000 persons who contracted the coronavirus in Nigeria were treated and discharged from various isolation centres across the country.
The health agency while reporting the latest infection through its official Twitter handle last night disclosed that 40 fresh cases were recorded in seven states making the new record of the total infection in the country to 166,019.
According to the NCDC, the states who reported the cases include; Lagos-29, Abia-3, Ogun-3, Kano-2, Kaduna-1, Plateau-1, Rivers-1.
The report revealed that there was no case of fatality due to the global challenge; saying only six deaths were recorded in the past 48 days across the country.
The country last recorded fatality on Monday, pushing the death toll in the country to 2,067 at the time of making this report.
Nigeria, being the most populous black nation with over 200 million populations has only conducted about two million tests and has so far vaccinated over 1.9 million people with the oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine.
