COVID-19 Update: Nigeria Confirm 877 Fresh Cases With 16 Deaths

This was made known through their official Twitter handle saying, the new cases were reported from 25 states of the country and the Federal Capital Territory.

Considering the latest report, and the ones reported in the last three weeks, the country's record has continued to fluctuate, rising to as high as 2,314 infections on January 22, the country's highest t record since the index case broke out in the country, though the lowest toll was put at 506 reported on February 7 of this year.

According to the health agency, the 25 states who reported the cases yesterday are the follows; Lagos state being the epicenter has continued to take the lead with 273 persons, while Kaduna state reported 87, Akwa Ibom and Ebonyi states has 47 each, while Edo and Ogun state each reported 46 cases.

Other states are; Abia, Kano, and Imo each reported 34 cases while Oyo state had 26, Osun-22, Gombe-20 and Ekiti-19, Cross River state and FCT each had 15 while Plateau state reported 11 cases. Enugu-9, Kebbi-8, Borno-7, Niger-6, and Bayelsa-5. Nasarawa state reported 4 cases while Kwara had 2 and Kastina, Sokoto state each reported 1 case.

According to the health agency, about 16 persons died of the virus complication yesterday pushing the death toll in the last four weeks to surpass 300.

However, NCDC said it recorded about 695 recoveries from across various isolation centers in the country making the total numbers of recovery to 126,417.

Nigeria now has a total of 150,246 confirmed cases since the index case broke out in Lagos on February 27, 2020, with 1,803 deaths.
