COVID-19 Update: Nigeria Records 221 New Cases As The Death Toll Jumps To 1,096

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has today revealed that the agency has recorded 221 new cases of the coronavirus in the country with one death, shooting the death toll to 1,096.

The Health agency stated this last night, saying the total number of confirmed infected persons in the country now stands at 55,829.

It stated that the new cases were reported from 18 states in the country.

Lagos state is the epicentre of the disease has continued to take the lead with the highest number of the recorded cases with 59, followed by the Abia state with 46 cases, FCT had 22 cases.

Other states reported also were, Gombe state-20, Plateau state has 17 while rivers had 11 persons, Bauchi state recorded 7 persons, Benue 6, Ekiti-6, Imo-6, Kaduna-4, Kwara-4, Ondo-4, Ogun-3, Osun-3, Bayelsa-1, Edo-1, and Kano-1.

As at the time of reporting this last night, so far, 48,305 persons have been discharged from the isolation centre.
